FIRST IMPRESSION

Although the series is often over the top with the, “War is bad”, theme, that is to be expected from a Gundam series. I did like, however, that the creators placed the series in the real world, or soon to be real world. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve never really been a huge fan of the Gundam series, finding them to just recycle the same garbage over and over again, however, this most recent series at least shows a spark of hope in a overplayed genera.

I know that it has been a long time since I have updated the site, but I am going to try to make a regular schedule to review episodes, series and movies. That being said, in my sabatical I watched the new “Gundam 00″ series via the Sci-Fi Channel.

The series takes place in a “near to be” future, opposed to the traditional Gundam Universe. Secondly the series addresses issues which are going to soon be a problem for all of us, and that is conflicts over energy.

SPOILER

The series mostly revolves around the main characters who belong to an organization called, “Celestial Being” which is a organization committed to stopping war through “armed interventions”. I guess they just stopped trying to be subtle with the whole, juxtaposition of war theme.

Believe it or not, there is not much to say about this series. Pretty standard recycled stuff, charactic of Gundam, Inuyasha, Dragon Ball, etc, etc.

BOY FINDS OUT JUSTICE IS NOT THAT JUST

and then we all learn a valuable lesson. I’m sure there are angry fan boys waving torches at my window by now, but this is a poorly written series, the voice action in English is awful, almost comical. It is rare to find a jewel now swimming in all this garbage they call art. They had a good idea, 15 years ago… let it die.

Backlogged Reviews!

Wow, have I fallen behind. I have not posted in almost an entire month. It was finals time where we are so you could bet that myself and the other few members that do some reviews for me were pretty preoccupied. However, I will be posting within the day with a bunch of backlogged episodes we have done. Sorry for the delay everyone! Hope all you readers had a Happy Holidays!

Election Day!

I know that this does not have a great deal to do with anime, but I figured I should do my part to encourage people to vote. So if you live in the United States and are over 18 go vote today!

Brief Overview:

We are introduced to the main character of the story and are thrown into his world where he believes that the fear of death will allow him to create a utopia.

Highlights:

When the shinigami, Ryuk, is asked why he dropped the Death Note on Earth he stated that it was just because he was bored.

Episode Review:

In the shinigami (or Death God) realm, one shinigami, Ryuk, seems preoccupied with something while the other shinigami continue to relax and do nothing. Meanwhile, high school student Light Yagami translates a sentence from English to Japanese upon the request of his teacher. The other students do not seem to pay the teacher any mind, though, as they play with their handheld games and talk amongst themselves.

Brief Overview:

We are introduced to the main characters of the story as Renton’s life is shaken up by the appearance of a beautiful young lady and her mysterious mecha.

Highlights:

Either the fight scene in the beginning or the part where Eureka burns down Renton’s room.

Episode Review:

I forget what other anime blog I read it off of but they basically said that the series in a nutshell was, “Surfing emotional robots being piloted by aliens”, and in a way as strange as that is, none of what he said was false. On the surface the series does look like just your run of the mill mecha anime, but this would not be doing Eureka 7 justice. Eureka 7 is visually stunning, although having a somewhat annoying subplots of everyone falling in love with one another, I suppose there is worse plots to have.
So the first episode of the series, “Blue Monday” we are introduced to some of the main characters being involved in a fire fight in their mecha called LFOs (Light Finding Operation) with the military. Now the thing that makes Eureka 7’s mecha different from others is the fact that they are basically surfing in the air, but they have the really colorful bright neon green lines that the leave behind them as their wake.
